PPC Advertising on Mobile Phones

People are increasingly using their Smartphones to search various products that they want to buy online. Mobiles can be used to browse the internet at any time, giving users 24/7 access.

Not only do Smartphone users search and compare products on their phone, they increasingly buy things too. This is happening across internet product sales, it is estimated that 20% of online shopping sales over Christmas will now be done on mobiles.

This will only happen if the consumer can find the right product however. With this in mind it makes sense for advertisers and online shops to make the most of paid search ads on mobile phones.

Advertising for mobiles should be partly based on AdWords data from previous PPC campaigns. However there are some things that can be done to make the ads specific to mobiles.

For instance if a website is getting a lot of traffic via mobiles then it makes sense to launch a separate mobile targeted campaign with ads optimised for mobile traffic.

When thinking about the content of mobile PPC ads there are certain things to remember, like using mobile friendly keywords and ad text. More relevant quick search terms and content to attract the busy mobile user are essential.

The format of a Smartphone also needs to be taken into account. As they have screens that are much smaller than a computer only a certain amount of ads will show at one time. Only two ads show in the top search results, so adverts need to be optimised with this in mind.

So when you are creating PPC campaigns keep these things in mind, as it is likely that a lot of internet users will be browsing on their mobile phones.

Being ahead of the game with Smartphone PPC advertising will ensure you make the most of any potential further increases in mobile traffic.
